Dr. James E. Jones, Jr., M.Div., D.D., D. Min.
When the Lord called Reverend Dr. James E. Jones Jr. to preach and teach the Gospel of Christ, he answered in a mighty way. Dr. Jones’ unique approach to ministry has transformed the lives of many. His teachings span over 2 states (NC and VA) where his members are affectionately called partners. His humble upbringing began in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake known as Camelot. He was born to Mrs. Mary Jones-Turner and the late James E Jones Sr.
His wealth of experience dates back to his early college years as a Youth Minister. He went on to serve 8 years as Pastor of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Lewiston, NC. In June of 2006, Dr. Jones returned to the city of his birth to pastor the historic First Baptist Church West Munden. During his tenure as Pastor of First Baptist, the church experienced phenomenal growth numerically and spiritually.
Through his dedication to reaching the “un-churched” and his commitment to see lives transformed through his practical teaching of God’s Word, Dr. Jones followed God’s utterance embarking on a new journey founding his own church, Grace Fellowship Worship Center. On August 8th and 9th, 2009, the first worship services were held for Grace Fellowship where God saw fit for 182 persons to join the ministry. Dr. Jones truthfully believes while following God’s calling for Grace Fellowship, he and his members will be able to build a faith-based community-driven congregation that exemplifies GRACE.
Dr. Jones’ academic accomplishments include an earned Doctor of Ministry Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY with a concentration in Black Church Leadership. Dr. Jones’ further academic achievements include a Master of Divinity Degree (cum laude) from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in “Interdisciplinary Studies” with a concentration in Accounting from Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA. As a result of Dr. Jones’ commitment to excellence in Christian education, community relations and numerous humanitarian projects, in April 2004, Saint Thomas Christian College granted him an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree.
Dr. Jones is the author of “Meditate to Elevate” and "Broken but Blessed”. Of his many accomplishments his most important and proudest role is that of father to Miss Jara'e (Jah-ray) Emoni (E-mah-nee) Jones with whom he co-wrote the book "See your Way Through". The book serves as a testimony to the incredible father-daughter bond they share and how that bond helped them through a family crisis.
